From University of Rochester Athletics
Senior golfer Jason Paek culminated his four-year playing career at Rochester in the best way possible, earning Division III PING All-American honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America for the 2017-18 season.
Peak was an Honorable Mention selection in 2018 and becomes the 16th golfer in University of Rochester history to earn All-American accolades and the first since Nick Palladino was a 1st Team honoree in 2014. Overall, the 16 golfers have combined to earn 26 All-American awards from the GCAA.
This season was a banner year for the Glenview, Illinois native. Paek, a team captain for UR, lowered his career scoring average nearly a full stroke after averaging 75.40 strokes per 18 holes this season. He also earned two medalist honors, coming at the Liberty League Fall Preview and the Liberty League Spring Tournament, both at Timber Banks Golf Club in Baldwinsville, NY. Those wins were the first two in his career.
Additionally, Paek recorded five top-10's and three top-5's in 2017-18 to go along with four rounds of even par or better, most on the team. That includes a 1-under round of 71 from the Jekyll Island Invitational which was a career-best for the senior.
Paek was selected as the Liberty League Player of the Year this season, and also was named to the All-Conference 1st Team in both the Liberty League and the University Athletic Association. Earlier this week, he was selected to the PING All-Northeast Region squad while also being a GCAA Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar for his efforts in the classroom.
For his career, Paek has a .653 winning percentage (1422-754), after posting a career best record of .762 this season. He also had lowered his career scoring average of 77.07, ranking in the top-10 all-time at Rochester.
