Three members of the New York University baseball team were recognized for their strong play this season by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), it was announced on Tuesday, May 28.
Seniors Colman Hendershot and Jack Walter earned Division III New York All-Region Second Team honors and senior Ryan McLaughlin was named Third Team.
Hendershot earns Second Team All-New York Region honors for the second straight year. The first baseman hit .355 with eight home runs and 45 RBIs in 39 games this season. He tallied 55 hits and stole 15 bases over the course of the season while only committing four errors in the field. Last week, he was named First Team All-ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) and Second Team All-East Region by D3baseball.com.
Walter, who was named Second Team All-ECAC and Second Team All-East Region last week, continues to be recognized for his senior campaign. The outfielder led the Violets in batting average (.373) in 2019 and led the University Athletic Association (UAA) in stolen bases (28). Also named First Team All-UAA, Walter tallied 53 hits, two triples, two home runs, and scored 44 runs.
McLaughlin earns Third Team honors for the second consecutive week after being named Third Team All-East Region by D3baseball.com last week. McLaughlin hit .331 in his senior campaign, tallying 44 hits, five doubles, two triples, and one home run. He also had 29 RBIs, scored 44 runs and stole 18 bases. McLaughlin was also named Second Team All-UAA.
