Violets in Second at NCAA Championship Heading into Final Round

The New York University women's golf team is in second place after the third of four rounds at the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships, which are taking place at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, TX, from Tuesday, May 14 through Friday, May 17.

NYU led after two rounds and was in first place for most of the third round until Williams College took over on the back nine. The Ephs lead by eight strokes after shooting a 300 on Thursday, while the Violets scored 310. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is in third place at the 25-team event after carding a 308 in the third round.

Arshia Mahnt and Patty Treevichaphan led the way for the Violets on Thursday, shooting three-over-par (75) and four-over-par (76) respectively. Mahant is now +12 through three rounds and is tied for seventh place, while Treevichaphan is now +22 and moved up to 44th place.

Jessica Wu is also having a solid tournament for NYU, and despite shooting eight-over-par on Thursday is in 12th place at +14 through three rounds. 

Arisa Kimura (+20; 32nd place) and Navika Kuchakulla (+25; 52nd place) rounds out the Violets' fivesome at the event.

Mahant leads all 131 golfers with 11 birdies through three rounds. 

Emily Salamy of Rhodes College sits atop the individual leaderboard with a score of +7 heading into the final 18 holes.

The fourth round is scheduled for Friday, with the field being cut to just the top 15 teams.
